Hand Signals

When traveling as a group, hand signals should be used.  Don't make sloppy signals. Be sure the person behind you can see your signals and use signals at all times when riding.

stop (2120 bytes)

Arm out at down angle, drop and raise to shoulder height only.

left turn(3645 bytes)

Point your left hand out straight from your shoulder.

right turn (3452 bytes)

Bend your left arm at the elbow so your elbow makes a corner, and your hand points up.

coming (4176 bytes)

Move over to extreme right hand side of trail. Bend your left arm, make square, pull hand toward head and back.
coming (4176 bytes)

Point hand towards yourself.

Left or Right arm raised from the shoulder and extended straight up over the head with palm of hand flat.

These signals are especially important when group riding. Stay a safe distance behind the snowmobile ahead of you. When you are making a turn, remember that at a blind corner the noise of your machine may prevent you from hearing another machine coming toward you. Approach turns carefully. Always stay to the right on a trail. Slow down when passing skiers or snowshoer's.
